Carltone Howl OCaster

In case you missed the history of the Howl O'Caster, I've put together this album.

studios-howlocaster.jpgThe album doesn't exactly start at the beginning of the Howl O'Caster's life but it's close.

The Howl O'Caster started life as a cheap Squire Telecaster Custom but really, the only thing left from that guitar is "some" of the body. The Squire was originally equipped with two humbuckers but somewhere along the way I pulled the bridge humbucker in favor of a single coil but I never really got on with the guitar as a whole.  It even spent some time as a knock-off of Keith Richard's Tele with open tuning a no low E string.

The Howl O'Caster now consists of the remains of the Squire body, a Warmoth conversion neck (I prefer a shorter scale), a Bigsby B50, and a Seymour Duncan Little '59.

The wiring is interesting. I wanted a simple, one-knob rock machine but also wanted something different so the guitar features push/pull series/parallel switching on the humbucker. The sound is a lot like having a coil tap except that you still get hum canceling in both positions.
